This is a 2 day course to make and learn about the exciting process of smoke firing.
Day 1 (Sunday September 12th) 10am-3pm. This will be based at our studio in Poynton and will involve the techniques of press moulding and coiling to create three moon jar shaped pots. These will then be burnished and bisque fired.
During the session light regreshments will be provided.
Day 2 (Saturday September 18th) 10am-3pm This will be based in Pott Shrigley (at The Brickworks) and you will spend the morning preparing your pots for the firing using a range of materials to achieve different finishes. Whilst the pots are in the firing a delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided as part of the course fee. Then once out of the fire your pots will be polished and ready to take home.
These two days will be a really special experience to learn about making, the excitement of what is possible from a smoke firing with a range of potential and unpredictable results.
Finally due to covid restrictions we have had to make some changes to the way in which we operate and so during the making session when the course will be held indoors we will have just 6 people in the session.
